There is a Beaulieu 708el CD Stereo that has very recently been posted on e bay de.
It is really upsetting to someone such as myself to see such a lovely machine as these finish up in the terrible state it is in.
It appears to have been stored for around 20years in someone's shed such is the state of its once beautiful hammer finished paintwork.

It has nine days left on it, half of the head assembly missing, extra things attached that ought not to be and already in the last hour, has 6 bids on it!

To me, it is worth the value of the lens and maybe the rear cover but nothing more. I have a feeling it will sell for a lot more!
Just amazing what some people will bid on.

The item number is 391042663375

You are right Andrew - Let's see where it ends up.

From the auction:
" Untested, it is quite dusty with no accessories and no power cord. Sold as is"!

I wouldn't like to be the person to plug it in to the mains for the first time Jon! I reckon that power cord has gone missing for a very good reason Lol.

Jon, do you still have your lens that you were selling, by the way?

It always makes me highly suspicious when sellers claim 'unable to test due to missing power cable' when it is a standard euro kettle plug fitting. Touching and barge poles come to mind!

Look at the end of the day Terry, this machine cannot pass a PAT test in its current state I wouldn't have thought.
If the paintwork is in that corroded state, what must the transformer be like. If it could be salvaged it would have to be removed placed in an oven to thoroughly dry out the windings, then re dipped just to see what the Insulation Resistance value comes out at before trying to even put power to it.
I suspect the seller is more than aware of this.

It has parts missing on the sound head section so it wouldn't produce any sound anyway, so almost pointless even trying to plug it in until all parts are fitted or restored

Andrew
My comment wasn't directed at the electrical state, simply that I wouldn't consider buying it , not only because of the cosmetic condition, but because the seller is being economical with the truth.

Yes Terry, I was and am totally in agreement with you on that.

To me, all it can ever be is a spare parts machine, but there isn't too much from what I can see that I would remove from this to put anywhere near my own. As I said, to me it is worth the value of the rear cover and maybe the lens.

It does have 11 bids with more than 8 days to go, wow!

Andrew, I still have the lens (3 of them) but only selling one.
