I have a bell & howell TQ111 model 1695 16mm projector which runs beautifully, but is reluctant to rewind. When rewind is attempted there is a horrible grinding noise which sounds like cogs trying unsuccessfully to mesh. I have opened the spool arm in question and can see nothing wrong.
Anyone got an idea?
Allan, Bromley London.

Greetings Allan
Sounds like lack of lubrication inside the projector
Or the rewind gear is bad or slipping
Open the back cover check the gears and see if there is old harden grease in the teeth of said gear clean and relube.

Thanks Rich, it's definitely the cog inside the spool arm that is slipping, though can't see any signs of damage to it. The cog is dry but was wary of adding lube. Can you recommend which? Presumably it would be thick grease type.
Incidentaly thanks for quick reply. Allan

Greeting Allan

What i use for Lubricating all of the plastic gears is call Super Lube Synthetic Grease. I have been using this for many of years doing service & repair work. You may find this at a local hardware store or at Production Tool if you have one
The item number is 21030.
I sell this for $8.00 for a 3oz tube plus mailing

What you call a cog inside the spool arm may be worn down on where the other gear is moving .
Hope this helps
