Hi All,
further to my post about USPS tracking; I've just had a full refund from Ebay in regards to a film I bought of this guy.

Basically I paid immediately and he sent me a tracking number, but whenever I entered this I got a message saying they couldn't confirm that they'd received it. I emailed him twice without reply (during which time he continued to list other items). He also ignored Ebay when I raised a case with them.

I suspect after informing US Post Service to expect my parcel, he was contacted by someone outside Ebay offering him more money (possibly a losing bidder).

I think we can all do without people like this!

Anyway, alls well that ends well; I have my money back and his 100% rating is now 92.7%.

This guys name is David Amodie, based in Philadelphia in the US.

Just for perspective here, please, how long was the time between receiving the tracking number and opening the case with eBay?

Thanks!

Hi Bill,
I received the tracking no. on the 6th September. I opened the case on the 8th of October.

The case was opened over 2 weeks after I sent my first polite email (followed a week later by a second)through Ebay asking for confirmation of postage.
Remember this guy listed several items after my emails and after I raised the case, so clearly he knew what was going on yet didn't reply. Clearly it was not a case of being sick or on holiday.

I'm all for giving the benefit of the doubt, but he was clearly beyond that.

Dave

Thankfully I've never been in one of those, and I'm sorry you are. So this provides a helpful example. Of all the international transactions I've done (maybe a dozen? not a ton), none took 2 weeks, at most 1 week and some only 4 days. Well, on second thought, postage from Canada was abysmally slow, but still not 2 weeks.

Sad to hear Dave ignored you like that Dave. I have had many dealings with him and have fronted several hundreds of dollars worth of lab new films, and have even loaned him a really rare print...all just on trust from previous deal and never have met him in person.

Ignoring you...there is no excuse for that.

The tracking number was probably online postage he purchased, those never get scanned again until they are delivered. That is why I never purchase online postage again. I purchased a film from Dave Thomas, and he purchased the postage and I got the tracking number right away...BUT Dave didn't actually ship for two more weeks...the whole time there was no update on the package until the day it was delivered.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying Dave didn't take a higher offer and not replying to your emails is complete crap on his end. However, knowing what he has for films, I can see a slim chance of him misplacing your item after he listed it. He has a completely full of films apt or condo.

I can say for sure, after he has ignored you about the problem, the trust I had with Dave myself is gone.
