OK, following on from my other thread I thought I would create a dedicated thread searching of projector maintenance services.

Although I appear to be able to quite easily source belts and parts for my Eiki I'm well aware that I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.

It's one thing to chuck film through it when I was a kid, quite another to take a valuable piece of film anywhere a complex device that hasn't been used for 15 years or serviced for >20 years.

I dread to think what would happen if another belt snapped while it was running.

Are there any professional services remaining or is that a forlorn hope? There seems to be small businesses doing 8mm repair but not 16mm.

It would be nice to get a professional and experienced eye giving it the once over before muggins here is allowed anywhere near it!

So I'm after some recommendations.

I lieu of a paid for service, recommendations for online information and guides, or a book (16mm for dummies?)

Many Thanks,

Jim.

Edit: Forgot the model numbers:

Eiki ST/M 1
Bell & Howell 652

Service Manuals:

Service Manual for Eiki ST/M 1
Service Manual for Bell & Howell 652

16mm Repair:

Kevin Brown Cine Projector Repair (Nottingham)
K W Technical Services (Luton)
The 8mm Shed Shop (Stanmore) (Pretty sure this is 8mm only)
bill@bparsons97.plus.com (Rye and East Sussex by the area code?) "Repairs to most makes of projector, Elmo's a speciality."

Film Services:

Buckingham Film Services
Classic Home Cinema

Misc:

British Film Collectors Convention

Good topic. Having been unsuccessfull in my search, I would also like to know of any projector repair services, preferably not too far from London.

John White has done a couple of repairs for me in the past. I was very pleased with his work:

It was too far to drive for me (wrong side of London), so I sent the projectors box-in-a-box. Worked very well for me.

Why not try getting in touch with your film dealers like Classic,
Buckingham, Perry's, Paul Foster etc, these folks usually have someone who repairs all this equipment.

Yep, it's probably cheaper to ship you over here.

Well, I found two places, in Luton and Nottingham.

I shall endeavour to contact them and get a quote.

Can you post links please?
