I can't be the only one like this! When I read about VS I go and smell my 16mm War Of The Worlds (1953) and re-did it today .... thankfully no smell .... phew Oddly enough I bought it about 5 years ago and still haven't watched it,I did run the first few minutes when I got it And yet this is my most prized possession on 16mm. I must watch it soon eh

Yes, you better screen it before it DOES turn red. After all, it's about an invasion by creatures from the "Red Planet". Also hope you checked the first minutes of each reel. I've run into a few films in which reel one was great, but there were color or condition problems with other reels. I even had one film in which reel one was in English, but reel two was Spanish. Good luck.

Gary is right!
I had purchased THEM! months ago. Reel 1 was sharp and clean, with clear and loud sound. The sound on reel 2 was terrible. I couldn't make out one word!

Well today I watched my 16mm War Of The Worlds and was happy with it. The print has a slight red fade but the greens, blues and whites were very good. A few splices for the first 5 mins of reel 1,but run fine through my Eiki slotload. Sound was excellent, nice and clear with good volume. Reel 2 looked slightly more red fade but also had good colours. I wonder how the fade was when I bought it 5 years ago and what will it be like in a few years time? After that I watched Conquest Of The Planet Of The Apes , I only have the last 14 mins but that's ok until I could ever afford the full feature! The sound was great but the colour was nearly all red,a slight hint of green was there, makes me realise that my War Of The Worlds has an excellent colour
