Hi all, I'm looking to rule out a few issues with the light bulbs on the projector I just picked up. It is in great shape and the only issue is the bulbs. Without a manual I'm trying to figure if the bulbs need replacing. It has a 250 bulb in it rightnow but it does not come on and I believe it is properly seated. The bulb looks okay but it is difficult to see the filaments. The othe bulb ( I think it's the exciter bulb). It does not turn on either. The only light that appears to come on is behind the rotary knob but I have not located that source. I have no film to use just incase it needs film running through to turn the bulbs om (unlickly) Does any one have an idea other than just changing bulbs) Also I have search the net an was only able to locate a service manual, does any one know of a reliable source for an operating manual. Thank you. The projector was $55.00 canadian which I thought was a good price. Thanks again Martin

Martin Operator's manual and service manual available on this Forum. Click on 16mm projectors and then scroll down to your Eiki model. http://www.film-tech.com/warehouse/index.php?category=2#16mm Projectors Have your turned on the amplifier? The exciter lamp will only come on when the amp is on. It switches on with the volume knob. There is also a 2 amp fuse for it, there are three fuses at the back, each is suitably marked. Check the pins on the projector lamp, it is possible that the pins have become corroded, if so, gently remove with some fine emery cloth. Or you could try a new projector lamp if you haven't got a meter to check continuity across the pins. The projector lamp is an ELC 24volts 250watts. The exciter lamp is a BRK 4volts 0.75watts.

Thanks to all that replied. I have confirmed the bulb is blown via a continuity test and that the exciter bulb is okay as I had not turned on the amp. All fuses are okay. Just need to order a new bulb. Thanks again to all

That's good news, Martin. Did you know there is a HIGH-LOW switch to the left of the lamp-holder? By switching to LOW the lamp will last nearly three times as long as in the HIGH position. The difference on screen will be barely noticeable.
