I have a great feature film on cores and I need to get it onto reels, so I am thinking of using a split reel, but have you seen the prices!!!!!! Therefore has any one made a 16mm split reel, if yes what is the procedure , and do you have images. Cheers and thanks

I'd like to remind members to check out the Index of Technical Topics page that Doug has created. It may have an answer you are looking for
In your case Mark I have included a thread that shows how I created a DIY split reel to do exactly what you want. I have since purchased a split reel...but this DIY technique got the job done for me. Maybe it will help you

I purchased my split reels as part of a lot on eBay a few years ago. Seems as though lots always sell lower than single items. So they worked out to about US$12 each, and I even sold one off that I didn't need, bringing the cost down further.
In other words, look long enough and I'm sure you can get legit split reels at a reasonable cost.
