Here's a seller I've been impressed with in the past selling B&Hs as new/old stock with REPLACED worm gears. These aren't cheap, but the buy-it-now is less than what it costs a shop to do the replacement and ship it here. How do they do that?

Ok, I asked -- regular price for ICECO's worm gear replacement is $250 plus S & H. That's a lot of shipping for most of us, but if any of you are nearer Miami, that might be a great deal.

Bill,

If you need a worm gear replaced in a B&H, just remove the "mechanism Assembly" and send it to Ken Layton. The shipping cost is about $10 each way. The worm gear is around $25 and Ken's cost is much, much less than ICECO's.

I just had it done in a 2585 and wow! what a difference. I am a happy camper now. [Cool]

If anyone needs Ken Layton's contact info, just go to my profile by clicking on my name and send me an email.

Thank you, Dan. At some point I'll probably be asking for more details.
