I was just reading an interesting story today of Buzz Aldrin who is spending time in our local public hospital at present, after becoming unwell down at the South Pole.
The National Science Foundation 109th Aircraft wing of New York, that are based here in this city flew him out, in one of there ski-equipped aircraft that fly regular flights in the summer months to and from Antarctica.
After a very long flight from the South Pole to Christchurch via McMurdo Station he is now responding well to antibiotics for fluid in his lungs in hospital.
Well folks that's todays news from down under...
Buzz Aldrin with his manager Christina Korp looking a lot better.

Look after him well while he is in your fair city Graham. Buzz is a national treasure here in the US.

Paul
My feeling is he will be in hospital for a while, fluid in your lungs is nasty stuff and antibiotics can take a while to kick in. I had a kid on my school run this year that landed up in hospital for weeks with a similar thing.
I hope he does make a speedy recovery but being in hospital is really the best place to be for the time being.
I wonder being the public hospital if he is getting the "same meals" as everyone else? mmmm

Perhaps they are giving him those NASA 'spacepak' meals to make him feel at home !

my Dad (works at the hospital) has been wheeling him around the last few days, says he is a nice down to earth guy (forgive the pun!)
