Hey all,
I have this Epidiascope model 809 that projects Magic Lantern Slides and also enlarges printed material for projection,like the O.H.P.'s do.
I think it's from the 1940's but not sure and can't find any information on it.It goes really well and has a nice bright sharp picture.
Does anyone know much about them?

Epidiascopes were popular for use in the Forces and schools during the war as they could show slides and reproduce documents or still photographs.

They were eventually superseded by conventional slide and film strip projectors, and the back projection instruments.

I have a 1966-67 copy of Wallace Heaton's Blue Book in which they have a Ross Epidiascope which is similar to yours with the following description:-

"Covers opaque field of 6 x 6in. Set on runners with forward and backward travel of 8.5in., giving coverage of 14.5 x 6in. in stages. Diascope attachment takes 4 x 3.5in. slides. 17in. epl lens. 10.5in. diascope lens. Uses 1,000 watt mains voltage lamp, fan cooled. Price £125 0s 0d."

Extras were:-
1,000 lamp (state voltage) £2 15s 0d
35mm filmstrip attachment £34 0s 0d
2 x 2in. slide carrier for above £1 5s 0d
