I got a request from France regarding film transfert. It seems that no French lab can transfer an optical 9.5 film on dvd. So I was asked if I could ask if there is a lab that could do that in the UK (or in another country). If anyone knows a good address...

I can do it, no problem, an HD transfer 9.5mm or 17.5mm optical for DVD, BluRay or file

Thanks, Dino. Since it's not for me, I don't know if the people who asked me that are willing to send a film to the US. If nobody can do that job in Europe, I will suggest them that American option. I understood that a man is living in a house that has a link with a 9.5 sound film that seems not to be available yet on dvd. A lady owns this title (as I do) and agreed to lend it for the man being able to screen it in a permanent exhibition. French labs or companies can handle silent films but, apprently, not optical ones. There is of course fex demand for that kind of transfert.

Dom, and if the sound have recorded with an external sorce?
And then merge with scanned images.
Of course, if it's a film with dialogue, the synchrony would be a bit 'difficult, as we know; but if the film is not long, a' fixed, maybe not perfect, it can be done with editing software.
Step by step, with a little 'patience...

I tried to correct the post, I wrote very badly!
However, even in Italy nobody offers the 9.5mm + optical service. [Frown]

Hi Dominique. Grahame Newnhame did have some transfers done of some of the Pathescope sound films. He may be able to help but there could be copyright problems. The original film producers may no longer exist but the copyright may have been passed on to another company. Copying commercial films is a very dodgy business and needs thorough research before proceeding. It may be worth researching to see if some minor DVD company has already released it. A pity you have not mentioned the title or who released it on 9.5mm. Ken Finch [Smile] [Smile]

Correct, Ken. I haven't made any searches about the film since I was told the monsieur who is interested found that it was only available in 9.5. The title is : Mon oncle et mon curé 😀

Hello Dominique I think the title translated into English is "My uncle and my ?" What is "cure" in English? My schoolboy French is not good, I have forgotten most of it at my age!!! Ken Finch.
