Hi guys,
I have been doing lots of experimenting with DIY real time, off the gate telecine this week with the help of the wonderful Martin Jones and feel like I am almost there.
Canon S-400 I have removed the std/super 8 gate sizer to allow more frame tomfit thru the gate.
Replaced the halogen lamp with a 12v LED cluster and placed some diffuser plastic in front of the LEDs, this has helped reduce glaring white patches.
I am not sure if the lights should be directed into the film gate or if it's ok to just fill the area with light, both seem to work ok.
Lenses I have tried a 50mm F 3:8 enlarger lens and although the picture is sharp i get vignetting, I also tried a 75mm but that has to be too far away from the gate.
I found an old 16mm projector lens and revered it, all good, great focus and a nice full frame but here is my issue.
Focus, my Panasonic 3ccd camcorder only has 10x zoom and I can only seem to get good focus when zoomed out a fair bit, as soon as I try to fill the frame focus deteriated.
Does anyone have any suggestions to get sharper focus when zoomed in?
I have noticed some shaking but have a macro rail on the same piece of wood As the projector so am going to try and put the cam on a seperate tripod and the projector on a stand but I'm pretty sure the focus is down to the cam zoom.
Any tips, ideas would be awesome.
Cheers Matt :-)
