Hello All,
Can an incorrect drive belt size cause the projector to run very slow?
I have a Japanese Goldcrest Dual 800. I used an old working belt from a destroyed Bauer. It worked for few days then started going very slow.
I also have a Eumig P8 Automatic without a drive belt. I live in Egypt and its a pain ordering anything online. Most of the time goods never arrive.
I know this is an awful question, but can I use belts from other electrical equipment? Does anyone also know the size specification of the Eumig and the Goldcrest projectors?
Thank you.

Hi Omar and Welcome!,

I would think if a belt caused a projector to slow, it would be because it was too tight or too loose, and would have from the start.

You can use belts from other equipment, but you are up against the odds they are the wrong size or profile (or both).

We never concern ourselves with the specs of our belts here. We order them by model number and I guess we trust in those who supply them to know what they are doing!

It's not uncommon for people to use O-rings to replace broken belts. If you can find a local supplier and can make some very thoughtful measurements, maybe this approach can work out for you.

Best of Luck!

Try matching your belt Omar against some of the belts used
by vacuum cleaners, they are usually a lot cheaper, readily available and very durable.Good luck.

Thanks Hugh and Steve!
Here's what I did:
I went to an O ring specialist and got three rings, one of them fit perfectly but turns out that wasn't the problem. The projector simply needed to be oiled. I had used it without any cleaning or maintenance after it had been stored since the 1970's.
I got my rubbing alcohol, cotton swabs, and oil and nowI'm a happy man. Works beautifully!
I still have to figure out the Eumig P8 Automatic. It's almost brand new. They were both in storage for many years.

Anyone know some web site with the sizes of belts for different models of projectors? or a way to measure the size when you donīt have a old belt to see the size?

Thanks!
