This might be more of a rhetorical question...but I just bought a 16mm feature of The Fugitive which only has reels 2 & 3. I also have a great copy of Curley Sue ...but just reels 1 & 2. Where or how do you suppose these missing reels got separated from the rest?

Some years ago I was going to buy Peter Sellers' "The Mouse That Roared" on 16mm. I then received a phone call from the dealer to say that he could only find part 1, did I want it? I said half a film was no good.
Many months later the phone rings again. Hi, I've now found part 2, do you still want the film?
Of course I did. The film is still on my shelves; but I never learnt where part 2 had been hiding!

The same question as to how a feature may have one reel that is low fade and another reel Eastman red. I think the rental companies got them mixed up,
