I recently acquired a Sankyo 460 and I'm hoping all is well with it when it arrives. I also purchased a short cartoon reel to test on it. I made the decision after playing around with my grandpa's old B&H 254.

With that said, are there recommendations on where to go to find "common" super 8 films? Unfortunately for me many ebay sellers seem to not ship to Canada. Right now I'm not super interested in finding rare films, really just some things that I can watch. Also it seems tough to find places that aren't in Europe.

Right now I'm aware of:
-ebay, as mentioned, though it seems hard to combine shipping so shipping one item at a time is a killer when the shipping is the same cost as the 10 minute film.
-this board
-a-1video.com(though I'm not sure if this is actually up and running since the phone number is not in service when I call)
-http://8mm16mmfilms.com/ Phil's Vintage Movie Films
-Classic Home Cinema, though I imagine the shipping overseas would be a killer
-super8warehouse.com, again I imagine shipping is a killer
-foster films.. again shipping concerns
-van eck films.. again shipping concerns

Are there some I'm missing? Does anyone have any recommendations from among these, or ones to avoid?

Welcome to the 8mm Forum!

Shipping from the UK isn't that bad, even better if you buy several at a time (Is it that different to Canada?). It wouldn't surprise me if the majority of my films came from there, so this is kind of an indispensable source.

The worst I ever got hit was four films shipped from Australia, but I wanted them really badly so I forked it over and enjoyed the films even more when they showed up!

Perhaps it's time you met Steve Osborne!

Hi Jason,
Firstly from my experience of buying on eBay is if the postage is too high then I often ask nicely if they have a cheaper shipping option,and if not then unless I really want it I give it a miss, same applies if they won't combine postage.
And secondly if the auction says no international shipping then sometimes it's worth messaging them and ask if they will consider shipping to you at your risk etc. 9 times out of 10 they have allowed me to bid :-) it never hurts to ask and all you have to do is email them - no is the worst they can reply :-)

Hope this helps and as I live in New Zealand a lot of my films are from England or even the U.S.A.
