The question of the day is whether Janice is going to be back projecting Castle Horror Films on her front window tomorrow night? [Smile]

Oh Paul you put me on the spot. I should probably post my response in the General Yak section so not to get into too much trouble. This year I'm doing a combination film & digital show. I'll be projecting the same B&W horror films I have spiced onto a 800ft reel from last year ... in addition to a 34 min video I have put together that will surely scare the knickers off a few little ones [Eek!]

It should be a very Ghoulish night. [Big Grin]

I just finished putting all the outside decorations up...inside window lights...projection screen (shower curtain)... two speakers...my Elmo ST800 ... and my digital projector. I'm pretty tired, but I still have to test everything tonight when it gets dark and tweak the outdoor lighting. It's a lot of work and I'm hoping this show will be as well received as last year. I hope I'll have some time to take some video.

What a great idea. I remember, as a kid, on Halloween I played the radio program "War of the Worlds" through a speaker in a tree on our front lawn. I think I got more out of it than the trick or treaters.

I did the same thing tonight projecting 8mm and Super 8 horror movies. They must have been too scarry, not a single trick or treater came to our house. We don't usually get many since there are not a lot of children in the neighborhood but we usually get a few. At least I enjoyed them.

@ William...."War of the Worlds" ... perfect! That broadcast always scares me.

@John...Some people stretch the shower curtain over a frame, but I just tack it to the wall. It doesn't have to be perfect and this way I just fold it up and easily store it away for next year.

@Doug...Thank you.

@Bryan... I had a consistent stream of kids for 2.5 hours tonight. I was trying to watch the World Series game, but just as I would sit down the door bell would ring again.

The show was well taken by the trick-or-treaters and their parents. People told me how much they enjoyed the decorations and the movies. A few said they could hear the music down the block and around the corner. I had one little girl tell me one of the images scared her...but she was laughing and I think enjoyed it [Smile]

Well done Janice totally awesome what you did there! You should contact your local news channel or local paper so that they could do a story on your display. Well there is always next year! [Smile]

Just noticed my 4 year anniversary in November when I joined the forum! Hope I'm still in good standing since I sold all my 8mm sound films, but I did not get out of films entirely since I have all my 16mm films! With my busy schedule I just did not have the time for both film formats.

@Dominique...Thanks for the kinds words. It means a lot to me and seeing the faces from the kids and hearing them just say "Love your decorations..." That's does it for me. [Smile]

@ Roger... Happy Anniversary! You are always in good standing...setting...or lying down around here [Smile]

Viewing film (any format) is like watching magic and we all need a little magic in our lives.

Glad you liked my little display. Honestly I almost didn't do it this year. I'm not getting any younger you know...and the thought of pulling out all those power extention cords, lights, and scarecrows from my shed and organizing everything seemed daunting. But as you see...I did it anyway. [Cool]

I don't need publicity...just a little push once in awhile to get the momentum going. [Wink]

Beautiful work, Janice!! I don't decorate at home anymore. BUT on Halloween night our church has a "trunk or treat" festival...with cars decorated and each giving out goodies, plus games and free food and I always bring projectors, the huge inflatable screen and Halloween cartoons and run them from dusk til the event ends at about 8:30. We had over a thousand kids and their parents come through this year. Will try to post pics later.

Gary, putting up the decorations is not the fun part for me either. Your church has the right idea. What a great way to have fun on Halloween!!! I've seen those blow-up screens and they are terrific for a big crowd. You must be pretty excited when you get the opportunity to run your projector and share in your hobby with others. Keep on "trunken." [Smile]

My screen sits right in front of the living room window 365 days a year!

-we could sit on the porch and watch movies if I slung a bed sheet over the (closed) screen, but only if:

1) We didn't mind the titles being reversed.

and

2) I trusted a projector to take care of itself when I wasn't in the room with it!

One night when I wasn't fully prepared (forgot to pull down the screen), I put Stan and Ollie 20 feet tall on the house across the street!

-that was actually kinda cool!

I yelled upstairs "Look out the window!"

-and heard back "What the HELL are you DOING?!!"

(Neighbors didn't mind! -even the part of the image that must have come through their dining room window!)
