Hello Everyone, I am a newbie here. Honestly, I have been watching this forum for a couple weeks and I decided to do the registration yesterday. Unfortunately, I rejected at first because of my username. hahhaa. And Finally, I accepted here.

I am a Indonesian Film Researcher based in Jakarta, Indonesia. And I am looking forward to actively participating in discussion here.

Best Regards,

Hi Dina,

Welcome in this forum.

I am sure you are looking for 8mm home movies not those pre packed movies. When you say footage, are you looking any specific? Because when we are talking 8mm home movies....this can be a lot of things.

Thank you, Winbert.

Actually, I am looking for all amateur or professional footage or clips that taped Indonesia in the range of 1900 - 1970's. because Indonesia's audiovisual historical records are spreading in all over the world. And I would like to preserve and archive them right away. Iam working in a foundation who have the main aim to preserve all Indonesia's audiovisual heritage.

If you don't mind, please visit idfilmcenter.org

Dina, you came a bit late, as I was in Indonesia until Oct 2016. Otherwise, I could help you a lot in this matter.

I am an Indonesian by the way, but now live in the Pacific ocean.

Have you been in touch with Laba-Laba Lab in Kemang? they may have some valuable information regarding this matter.

I have rolls of film shot in super 8mm and 8mm from Indonesia in 1970-1980s but they left at home in Jakarta, so hard for me to get them now.

If I may ask what device are you using to transfer these format? MovieStuff? Rertro Scan? Flashscan? or what?

cheers,

Wow! What a luck meeting Indonesian people in here! I am very glad to hear that you have an old film shots from Indonesia.

I have been in Laba-laba Lab last week and have a discussion with them. But I am still looking for another potential information.

In my office (Indonesian Film Center), we have a The Archiver scanner which is able to scan all film gauges up to 2K. We are concern to do the preservation and restoration for all Indonesia's audiovisual heritage.

May I have your email address so that we can talk about this in further?

Is this some kind of scanner dedicated for 8, 16, 35mm or a flatbed scanner? If this is a flatbed scanner, I guess it would take so much time just to finish a 50 feet film.

Derann did issue a 200ft reel titled "Indonesia" it was marketed as a Pathe Pictorial (I'm sure it wasn't), narrated by Lew Forrest. I have a copy but it has severe (and I do mean severe, in places hard to watch) wet gate bubbles in the picture area all the way through.

One to look out for though in any gauge.

The D-Archiver is dedicated for 8, 16 and 35mm.

I will send an email to you today.
