Well, it's a scope print and it's not so usual to find a used copy of Disney's SLEEPING BEAUTY for sale.

I think it depends on the pictures the seller will supply. As already stated, the starting price is extremely low. And as Jeroen has written in another post, there could be something suspicious (I'm simply referring to quality).

Let's say all could happen. But let's wait for the screen shots, before presupposing [Wink] .

If it's a scope print then I'll pass, because I don't have a scope lens nor can I afford one [Frown]

Christian, ask the seller. SLEEPING BEAUTY issued by Derann is in scope. He does not mention if the print is a Derann, but I'm sure it is.

My opinion, if the price won't get higher and the condition is fair/good, is to buy it. It's worth it. You will find a good lens, one day. You won't be a 'poor student' for the rest of your life [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] , will you? Just kidding, now.

Anamorphic lenses are sometimes listed on Ebay at very low prices.

Once more, it all depends on the condition of the print, but it won't be so easy to find another copy sold for such a low price.
It's up on you, anyway [Wink] .

Here's a couple of screen captures I've taken right now with my mobile using my ELMO ST and a SANKOR 16C scope lens just to show you the quality of the print:

Gian, I just recieved a reply from the seller, and he couldnt supply pictures as he doesnt have a projector. According to him it was in "near mint" condition the last time he had it projected.

I have asked him to supply pictures or info of the actual reel, so I'll wait for another reply until I make a bid.

NEAR MINT at £35,00? This seems to be a genuine bergain!
Well, no pictures... But considering the price, once more I do believe it's worth it.

The fact that its not in its proper box may put off many people bidding so the price might still stay low, mabye only geting to £60 who knows.

I recieved a reply from him now, he didn't have pictures, but said the colour was pretty good, had two splices in total, and was in perfect condition otherwise.

Once he opens the auction for non-UK buyers, I will make my bid [Smile]

I've noticed the auction is still limited to UK. Hope he will, at least for other potential buyers who could be interested in it. Fingers crossed [Wink] .

I think it would help if the sellers' description was corrected, gramatically from -

quote:
3x600ft reels not mint but average condition colour good sond super 8mm
TO -

"3x600ft reels. Not mint, but average condition colour, good sound. Super 8mm".

I think then the condition of the film is not so "ambiguous".

The fact that he has mentioned two splices probably indicates that the film has been mounted on larger spools, possibly 240m, at some time.

Yeah, that's what I thought aswell.

According to the seller, he bought it in a job lot, but remembers seeing it projected by the seller, which is why he says the colour is good.

Could it be, if on Agfa? So weird. I mean, this must be a 'very old' print. But I personally think it is a little strange anyway. Bad storage?

Hopefully he'll open it up so I can bid, and if I should be lucky enough to win it I'll make a full review once I get it.

Good idea. I'm now a little curious about this copy. Never heard about a Disney's issued by Derann warming.

The question here is if it's really a Derann print. Is there anyway of telling this?

The Derann edition is not the only one available, that's true.

Some unauthorized Italian prints exist, but they were issued on 4/5*600ft, acetate stock, and supplied in nice boxes with artwork in early 80's. NO OTHERS EXIST.

I'm sure the print we are discussing about is a Derann. And I'm sure the seller was just a little bit confused in his 'ambiguous' description, as our Keith has suggested.

The following links refer to a couple of auctions for the Italian edition of this Classic on 8mm; one of them was sold some days ago on Ebay, just to give you an idea:

Sleeping Beauty (Italian Edition)

Sleeping Beauty (Italian Edition - Auction 2)

Why would the Italian version be 600 feet longer? [Razz]

For all we know it could be an old cine version of some sort, only time will tell.
