How much and which King Kong? I thought the old one was on less than 12 reels, so it if't the Jeff Bridges one, I'd love to have it (depending on you asking price of course ;-) )

Welcome to the forum Daniel, and you're right in that King Kong
is 12 reels mounted on 6x400' spools, issued by Mountain Films.
Good luck with the sale.

According to the King Kong book it was originally released on 14-35mm-1000 foot reels. The scene where Kong wrecks the L-train was added after the film was cut to 13 reels and Schoedsack or Cooper said he wouldn't released the film on 13 reels.

But the Nostalgia Merchant version was released, I believe, on 5-very full 400 foot reels and the Mountain version was on 6-400 foot reels. The Mountain version does not have the entire deleted scenes.

Hugh, Daniel say 12 400' reels not 200'.

No previous discussion here mentioning King Kong as 12 x 400' reels.

It is strange!

The print I have from Mountain does have him chewing and
crushing the natives underfoot, but I can't recall the scene where he removes Fays clothing. In any event, the film only ever ran for
100 minutes.

What was the rating of "King Kong" pulling her cloths off and sniffing them?

I sometimes wonder why I love the older films rather than the remakes. Could be I try to put my thinking back to when they were originally released and I try to feel what the audience felt then.

This was one of the films I bought before it was available from Mountain Film. I could be wrong but £70 was the price.

Hi David, Kong fell under the "H" for horror I understand on it's
release in Britain at the time..I got mine from Derann by paying
a £2.00 deposit in advance for it's Autumn '76 release from
Mountain Film.

It sure is David,it seems like yesterday.During that time,we thought ourselves very fortunate to actually own a print of this
classic film, shortly followed by "Mighty Joe Young" & " Son of Kong" in very good B/W prints, although slightly shortened, but
very welcome.

Too high prices on most of his stuff ... Got a decent (actually very Nice) print of Land that Time Forgot for about half that price

Good Luck to him, I guess I rather buy other titles

Bloody hell, this is sheer greed, there must be literallly hundreds
of prints of this film available. I HOPE no one replies to this ad.
I understand this was a top seller with Mountain Film, as Star
Wars was with Ken, so there are plenty of copies out there..
Just a Post Scriptum, there were to my knowledge two versions
of the 6x400 from Mountain, the first was from a 16mm, the last
was from a 35mm neg, it would pay to ask this question of the
seller.
