One large-scale film dealer (who shall be nameless!) recommends at his website that his customers clean their films with Goo Gone, a greasy mixture of petroleum solvent and orange oil. Does he really use it himself, or is he just trying to create replacement business?! I've used a little of the stuff occasionally to remove mummified masking tape from the heads of old prints, but clean a whole film with it? No way!

Jeff,
Welcome to the Forum!
We've had various threads about using household (and automotive!) products to clean film. Here's one that deals specifically with Goo Gone. Citrus Power!
