I have just updated my laptop to Windows 10 from Windows. The installation process was easy and so far I am quite pleased with the results. I had tried Windows 8 in the past and I was not at all impressed so had gone back to Windows 7. Have any of you upgraded and have you found any problems or glitches yet?

Paul.

I use Windows 8 (it was on the computer when I bought it) and I don't like it. It was designed for tactile screens (which I have not) so it happens often that when I move the mouse, the page on which I'm working disappear for another screen ! It is better than at the beginning (I guess they made improvments with the updates) but it is still not satisfaying. I hope this problem will be fixed with Windows 10 but as the number of tactile screens is growing I'm a little bit suspicious. I will give Windows some time to improve their new version before I upgrade to it.

I'm no computer expert and I hate Windows 8. Fortunately, my machines have either Windows 7 or XP.
I understand, however, that following millions of complaints Microsoft introduced (in an update)the ability to revert to the Windows 7 type desktop by clicking on the "Windows" icon in the taskbar of Windows 8.
I don't know if it applies to all versions of Windows 8.... but it's worth trying it if you don't like the Win 8 desktop.

There are ways of making this happen if the icon doesn't work...
try Googling: "windows 7 classic view for windows 8" for information.

I have two Windows computers. 7 and 8.1. For each, I am waiting for my notification that downloads have been made and are ready for installation.

I have upgraded form 8.1 to win 10.
I prefer it to 8.1 but liked XP more.

Al can say is that if this is the last upgrade (version of windows)
you have no choice. There some large updates coming
so if you have any blips etc lets they get ironed out.

There is an ad. running on the tube which shows a bunch of toddler age children and talks about how lucky they are they will be growing up with Windows 10.

-Oh come on! Before they reach Kindergarten we will be at Windows 12 easily!

8.1 was often referred to as Windows 9.

I'm sure Microsoft said there would be no more versions just updates to Windows 10 (ie no change of name). Whether this means third party companies will no longer have to re-write divers for printers etc I don't know.

Mine has the later windows 8 that comes on at start, I then straight away click and go to the old type set up and layout etc.

No apps etc more like windows 7.

Best Mark.

PS I`ve seen that daft advert on TV about windows 10 being the answer to life etc !!! Yee Gods.

No more Versions of Windows? Creating new versions of Windows to replace the previous versions that they "will no longer support" (with updates) is how Microsoft can continue to make money! Without new versions to sell to a gullible public they have lost their main source of income.

Am happy using XP & WON'T "upgrade" until I have enough convincing indications that 10 is easy & non-problematic....

I liked XP but my job obsoleted it, along with probably about 3,000 PCs and Laptops it was operating on.

I want to upgrade but am afraid my printer wont work along with my office 2013 and it does a clean update meaning you have to back up all data or lose it I have 8.1 and it has not bothered me, I downloaded classicshell.net it gives you the option to chose the interface you want to go back to, you can go back to xp, vista, or 7. I would let the bugs get worked out before doing it one has roughly a year to download 10. you better make sure all equipment you have had connected to it still works.

Hi all,

after deliberation AND...consideration - I am staying with 7. It has been stable and does the job.

Happily my printer, security software and my Office 2013 are all working ok. It seems ok once you get your head around the way it works.
