We went to The Enzian this past Saturday to see a special showing of It's A Wonderful Life, and the theater was packed, not an empty seat anywhere. Henry Maldanado, the CEO of The Enzian gave his usual excellent and informative introduction to the film. Henry said some very touching things this time around. On the subject of the old classic films he referred to them as "old friends" that he likes to visit every so often, and he thanked the audience for coming to his theater to enjoy his old friends with him. Then he went on to say how wonderful the audience at The Enzian always is, stating that the common enjoyment and conversation about movies is often quite enough to make new friends. I could not agree more, and this forum proves it.

Paul, I love this "film."...er, even on Blu-ray.
With regard to older movies, I will always remember a college lecturer of mine (back in the day) as he introduced to us arrogant 20-odd year olds, "The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari."
He said, "Please remember, things age, and old films are like old people; it may be easy to laugh at them, but show them due respect; consider what made them and where they came from..."
I never forget that advice.
