Last night I screened a film All American (1953) that I just purchased . It's not a movie I would normally buy...but my uncle Fortune Gordien (1922-1990) has several lines in the film...so I had to have it [Smile] Fortune was an athlete. He held the world record in the discus for several years and won a silver medal in the 1956 Olympics.

Here is a still from the movie of Fortune giving Tony Curtis a "noogy". He was a very big jokester and fun to be around.

Here are some screen caps:

@ Dominque yes I'm very lucky to find this. I have some brief home movies of Fortune, but seeing him in the movie is so cool.

@ Joe 16mm. It has very good contrast and sound....happy with the print.

Awesome Janice! I remember hearing about Fortune when I was young. He was quite an athlete.

I found this today and had to add it to this thread. When I was much younger and visiting my grandparents for the summer in Oregon my Uncle Fortune would be at the house frequently. He worked on my grandfather's ranch and trained there. For fun, I asked Fortune to autograph a photo I found.

In his inevitable since of humor it reads:

quote:
To Jan
Will my fans ever leave me alone! Love Fortune
