Hello !
With my GS 1200 there is sometimes a rustling noise at playback like an electrical static loading, not very loud , but nevertheless disturbing . How can I avoid that bad noise ? My Elmo is one the first series, with metal pressure handles for the soundheads.

In the first series this problem is very common. I think it comes from the first black roller (than one before the heads). A solution is to recover it with a thin rubber tape. In the next days I'll get a photo of a recovered roller.

Heinrich, is this an electrical type noise like a bad connection or as Ugo says a staic electricity type noise.
These machine do suffer from dirty switches especially the record/playback switches as they very rarely get used due to the machines being used for the playing of films only.

Please becareful with this tip as I do not have a GS 1200 and do not know if this will work.

Somewhere I read recently to prevent the record button static (as Kevin points out due to lack of use) simply press the button in and out several times WITHOUT film threaded and this should clean the mechanical parts of the switch.

However, I am not sure so please do use caution on your nice machine!

Further to Heinrich problem with his GS1200 , I to am having a noise problem with one of my GS1200,s When I switch on the power the noise from the internal speeakers is terrible, I dissconnected the speakers and ran the projertor thro., an external amp., and everything was ok sound was good. I reconnected the internal speakers and the noise was back , I let the m/c run for a while and the noise did go away but each time I swich on the projector the noise is back. Would any of you lads have any ideas of what this problem might be Thanks ALEX FOX

I had a noise problem with my GS 1200 which might be what you describe and the cure for that has been touched on above. When I turned the machine on there was an erratic static/white noise coming from both internal speakers regardless of the position of the volume controls, or for that matter any of the controls [Frown]

Kev, thought it might be a case of dirty micro switches in the recording circuit and suggested that I tried clicking the red record switches on and off a few times with the spot record button on standby and the machine running in play mode [no film in it of course]. I did as he suggested and Hey Presto no more noise.

I now click the record switches a couple of times every time I use the machine and the problem hasn't come back, might be worth trying?
