I was wondering if anyone else had a super8 horror movie show this Halloween and if so, what did you show? I had a rowdy crowd that had way too much to drink by the time it came for a screening so I opted for cut downs for fear of people passing out. I had contemplated a number of features but in the end just showed the 400' Columbia digest of Straight Jacket with Joan Crawford that had everyone screaming and laughing. I had no idea what a smash that would be. Then I showed the 3 X 400' Marketing print (gorgeous color by the way) of Rosemary's Baby. I tend to obsess about what to show but this year it was just right.

We had "Quatermass and the Pit" (Derann 400ft cut-down), George Romero's "Zombie" (UFA - 3x400ft) and John Carpenter's "Assault on Precinct 13" (600ft digest from PM Films).

Last year was "Strictly Elvis". Some of the films he acted in are actually so horrible that they deserve to be screened on Halloween...

I too ran Halloween on the Sunday Mal. Concurrent viewings eh? Our home cinemas must be on the same circuit.

We had a halloweeen film show with a group of about 10 people. I showed a Pathe newsreel, some S8 horror trailers, and then the chilling S8 'Haunted Mirror' story from the Ealing horror feature 'Dead of Night'. The main feature was 'The Woman in Black' (projected DVD), a really creepy, hair raising, bone chilling British TV film made in 1988, which freaked everybody out!

We Had a Halloween show for Kids, Mighty Mouse in the "The Witches Cat", Tim Burtons "Vincent", Classics "Thunderbird Ads", (followed by Fab Ice lollys) then "Jasper & the Watermellon". A switch to 'scope, then trailers including the new King Kong all rounded of with the "Rollercoaster" short.
This show went very well as children often have a short attention span and soon get bored by a long program. Now off to get tonights Bonfire Night show ready!

Jean-Marc,

What's the quality of the "Zombie" UFA release?

Cheers!

Marc,
It's quite good. Bought it second hand from Andreas. A few scratches here and there (mostly at the beginning of each reel). It's very slightly faded but colours are still present. The editing is excellent.
