At least the seller states the issues and shows pictures. But it sounds like it is harder to repair than I thought.
I'd love to get one of these one day, since it would be a definite upgrade over my ST-1200 HD. I am not that into the stereo sound and recording features, but I'd love the 250 watt lamp. My next projector, whatever make and model, I want absolute near mint. Don't feel like having the issues I've dealt with. My ST-1200HD that I bought 10 years ago was supposed to be fully serviced, cleaned, inspected, etc. A month after receiving it I had to replace all the belts, which luckily were still available from ELMO Canada. But I paid something like $40 for the belts after having payed $400 plus shipping for the machine. The recording never worked properly, unless you consider having to hold the red button in while you record a whole reel "working." I cleaned out so much gook and dustballs after removing the back cover. Worn lower sprocket guides scratched my films. (Which I just discovered was the culprit through the tremendous help of Kevin and others on this forum.) The film guide right before the take-up reel was also missing. For the latter, I called the seller about it and he promised to send me one -- never heard from him again. This transaction was pre-eBay and done on the phone. I should have pressed harder and complained -- don't remember why I didn't. Probably because of the long-distance phone bills.
Anyway, I just discovered that this guy is still doing business and selling Elmos in "mint" condition. I'm tempted to contact him and give him an ear-full -- 10 years in the making! :-)

You know even with a machine that is Super Mint.. you will still have problems one day. I had a super clean GS-1200 that I used very sparingly. Never had any problems. Was quiet, threaded all the time, sound was great, etc. I then went to sell it to a member here on the forum and as soon as he received it? The machine would not work. It wouldn't thread. Can you believe it? But then again..its the only repair and the machine was built some 20 odd years ago! But I have to say.. I sold my first GS machine to a friend of mine in 1987. Well.. I missed it. Then one day in 1998 I got back into the hobby thanks to Derek Simmons, Derann, and Ebay. I didn't want to spend the money for a GS so I purchased an ST1200HD for $250. Well, it worked but it wasn't the same. The GS is my favorite projector of all time. I love the way the controls are, the picture, the sound, the fact that on this forum we have true experts who can keep your machine running. I love it! What can I say? It is the best of the best in my opinion and if Super 8 had kept developing who knows what Elmo could of come up with? 20 years later and these machines with just a little bit of TLC are still going strong. Not the machine in the ad though! ha ha..!
