How many Sherlock Holmes were released by Niles? All 14 features? Of course I am referring to the Nigel Bruce/Basil Rathbone versions.

Hi Dan, (Merry Christmas, by the way!)
I know about twelve Sherlock Holmes released by Niles:
-...and the Voice of Terror -House of Fear -Spider Woman -The Woman in Green -...and the Secret Weapon -The Scarlet Claw -The Pearl of Death -Pursuit to Algiers (400' edition - don't know if there was a 4x400' feature) -...Faces Death -Dressed to Kill -Terror by Night -...in Washington (400' edition - don't know if there was a 4x400' feature)
Perhaps you know about releases of the other two - so our knowledge may sum up to 14 altogether?

I've got the Niles feature length print of "The Scarlet Claw". This has to be my favourite Universal "Holmes" film as it is different in style from the other titles in the series and has some genuine creepy moments. It is really a Universal horror film, with fogbound bogs and a monster tearing the throats out of its hapless victims. If you only get one film from the series this, in my opinion, is the one to get.

For what it's worth, I can vouch for the full length versions of Pursuit to Algiers, House of Fear, Pearl of Death, Voice of Terror and Secret Weapon as I have these in Super 8. The other Universals I have on 16mm.

The above list of the 12 Sherlock Holmes titles released by Niles is correct. They match up to the Niles sales brochure I have. "Washington" was released in a 70 min. version priced back then at $119. All 12 titles were released as digests but the two missing features were apparantly never released. I always liked the way Niles never edited their features down to four reels. I have the two horror color features they released (House of 7 Corpses/Young Hannah Queen of the Vampires) and wish they had released more cult 70's titles.
