After a long rest, the s8 projector came out of hiding tonight for the first of the Christmas Shows.

Having watched a DVD projected last night it was interesting to watch the s8 on the same screen.

We did the predictable! Mickeys Christmas Carol, The Snowman and Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper. All 3 prints looked great and in particular the Christmas Carol with lovely saturated colours. Far better than the DVD.

The only difficulty was the poor sound on the Christmas Caper. I must find the DVD and re-record it sometime.

Happy Screenings to all

For me (working in a school) we have shows in the hall, and yes, The Small One is there among the films. I'll be using my two 16 mm Xenon machines, and obviously my copy of The Small One is on 16 mm; it's the complete story and a very good print I bought from Paul Foster about three years ago.

How could I forget "A Walt Disney Christmas" ?!
You know, the neat thing is, if you wanted to, all four cartoons from "A Walt Disney Christmas" are available from Derann and other sources in thier original uncut versions, then just take the beginning crdits from the 400ft original and add it to the beginning of the four cartoons!

Just a thought

Tony.
We also watched Christmas Caper last night having just re recorded it into stereo on the GS800 and it made the world of difference. The end credits are much shorter on the 8mm release but the improvement in quality is massive.

Happy Christmas.

We are working on our own Christmas list here:

Peace on Earth
A Walt Disney Christmas
Madagascar Penguins in a Christmas Caper
The Nutcracker Suite from Fantasia
L&H “Big Business” (OK, a Stretch….)

-plus other possibilities:

When I was in my teens my parents bought me a couple of rolls of E-160 every December and I did a Christmas film for the family. Maybe this is a good year to seek them out and screen them once again: for the loved ones now absent but remembered always, and the babies from then now getting married and going to college, for who we were, who we still are and who we hope our kids will be.

Blessed Christmas to all!

What a great line up of Christmas films everyone has, we will be watching "A Walt Disney Chrismas", a film that never looses its appeal, Madagascar Penguins, a Tom and Jerry, "Night Before Christmas" and "The Snowman".

Have a nice Christmas everyone.

I can now report on our Christmas film shows as I had no idea what the program would be as we had bought a few titles on ebay (all 1st class by the way), and depending on the post they could have ended up being the Christmas shows. Luckily the good old Royal Mail did not let us down so we watched those films earlier. So, on Christmas Eve we watched "Scrooge" the 1951 classic with Aleister Sim. It's a lovely print on 5x400ft reels and is becoming a bit of a tradition as we show it every year. Three British TV stalwarts also star in this film.
Patrick (John Steed) Macnee,
George (Arfur Daley) Cole and
Jack (Dixon of Dock Green) Warner.
I had put the trusty Elmo 160 away and used a Chinon 8000 which I had purchased recently and it runs beautifully, very quiet running, kind to prints, and a lovely steady picture. On Christmas night it was out with the Elf for a 16mm show and we watched the original "Black Christmas" again, (same as last year) but it is fun and Olivia Hussey is always worth a watch.
Well that was our Christmas show line up. I hope you all had a very Happy Christmas and trust that you will have a wonderful 2008.
All the best,
Paul Spinks.
