I had a 8mm presentation to make to a History Society on Monday night. As always, I clean and check all equipment and film the day before. On Sunday I threaded the film on the GS1200 but on pressing FWD, the projector would only run very slowly.
Took the back cover off to see if there was any obvious wrong but found nothing untoward. Re-trying the m/c, it worked perfectly for the full 1200ft of film.
So after setting up on Monday night, the same problem happened so I used the HD1200 instead; I always take a spare m/c.
Ater the show I retried the GS and after a few seconds it worked properly. So I have an intermittent fault and would be grateful for any help you are able to give.
Thanks in advance,
Mal

Hello Mal,

You've put this topic in the films for trade section so it might not get picked up. Maybe one of our friendly moderators could move it for you? [Wink]

Just a thought, are you sure the "pause" button hadn't been depressed when you were having problems with your GS? When the pause button is depressed the FWD button makes the GS run at about 6fps. You probably know that already but I thought I'd mention it just in case...

Hi Mike, I realised what I had done after posting and did ask a moderator to move it, which has been done.
It showed the syptoms of the pause being activated as you say, but I hadn't touched it and the m/c came up to speed suddenly. Haven't had the chance to look at it today.
Thanks for the reply.
regards
Mal

This is normally caused by dirty contacts in the speed change switch.

Move the switch a dozen times and see if that cures it.

GS1200 Xenon with Elmo 1.0...great combo along with a 16-CL Xenon for that super bright white light.
