Hi,

I am sure my "Cueball Cat" has diferent cover.

 -

Mine is also an OB from walton but the art works different.

What is the reason, Walton changed the art graphic? didn't it cost them more?

cheers,

You have TWO different Walton covers?

The only thing I can think of is trying to get unsuspecting collectors to think that it was a different version of the films ...

... but then, Walton DID have different versions of Tom and Jerry.

If you compare Walttons Tom and Jerrys, with MGM's own releases of Tom and Jerry, you find in most cases, that Walton took out from a few seconds to whole short scenes from the Tom and Jerry cartoons. When you bought the officcial MGM releases, you got the whole original cartoons.

I believe that the first ten Waltons were "cut" at MGMs insistance for the licence.

But the cuts were mainly obvious, and as their purchasers complained, Walton were able release issues 11 to 20 without cuts.

Is Larry still in business? After the Cine World shop closed in Rayners Lane I thought that he was enjoying a well earned retirement. He is such a nice man and it was always a great pleasure dealing with him.

Jon

If your copy is a Walton, look for the number.

TJ1 to TJ10 are cut, TJ11 to TJ20 are not.

Sorry, I have a number of T&J Waltons, but not that one. If you watch it carefully you will probably notice a cut in the action somewhere.

I believe Derann has the Walton Tom & Jerry's. CUEBALL CAT is available from them. I have a few and they are great. Some have the Walton logo at the end.

Larry,

Could you give a link to your website, as, if there are some other sellers besides Steve Osbourne and Dave Thomas and Phil Johnson , I'd love to know.

"Cue Ball Cat" was released on the 25th Nov 1950 the full running time was 7.02 min. I have this film on a large reel "no box" when I get a chance I will watch it and record the running time.

I dont think I have ever picked up on the cuts in some of the Walton films there is so much going on in in a "Tom and Jerry" cartoon you would never notice it . [Smile] Derann still list heaps of new T/G titles one to get "Smarty Cat" 1955 when Tom invites his friends round to watch his "home movies" is brilliant I highly recommend it.

I dont know if it's true but I believe the Derann T&J's are the Walton releases without the cuts.

Thanks for the link Larry, I'll check it out in greater detail in the near future, as a up and coming low budget SCi-fi scriptwriter and film-maker myself, (though nowhere near 35MM!)

I must give Walton films some credit. The few Walton edited Tom and Jerrys were so well edited that, unless you had seen the original cartoons, you really didn't notice the edits.

Ummm, that's good editing!

One of Walton's "Johann Mouse" I had first, and then I recieved a MGM release of the same title, and I noticed that when Tom is learning the piano, there is a lot more in the MGM. At first, I blinked twice, the ran the two again and sure enough, the MGM had more.

Kevo, as far as I know the Derann Tom & Jerry's have been produced from new masters.

The print I have is TJ15 dated 17/2/81 Fuji stock with an approx running time of 6.38min and has stunning colour, if the original running time on its release date was 7.02min that would make about 24 seconds missing, as with all T/G cartoons its great stuff.
