I got a sweet deal on a Mag Optical version of this projector off ebay. Get it, looks nice all stuff that comes with it is there, go to thread a film, push the green threading lever down, and now its stuck down. This is not my first 1200 my last two never had this problem. I have heard that once it goes thats it because its not Mechanical, what can I do? films wont run right with it stuck down.

check the little black button at the rear of the unit (next to take up reel) where the film comes out. If that is stuck down it won't release the thread... i have had them get sticky but usually you can just put your finger under it and pop it back up

My ST-1200 HD M has a black switch-type, which when depressed releases the green lever to its original position. Doesn't the ST-1200 MO have this release facility?
I think running the projector in reverse also works. Correct?

sctually it does! I dont remeber my last 1200hd having this but maybe it did. Its been a while. I noticed something, I was usuing a Taylor 1600 reel and the green thing releases like it should when using the 800 reel or smaller, where you dont have to push the fingers that are that same green color (sorry forget the proper name) back. The person did not replace the counter belt. I would like it to work because it should, how hard is that to replace? Oh running the projector in reverse did not work.

Actually when I was getting used to my ST-1200HD I unknowingly ran a film backwards with that front guide down and it put a neat little crease in every frame!
-problem was the thing operates so much like my ST-800, but not exactly like it! On the ST-800 the front guide automatically pops up when you set the knob to light the lamp or stop the machine.
Still the same: the ST-1200s are built like a 60's Cadillac and feel like they'll run forever!
That retractable rear guide for the smaller reels has a switch built into it to pop the front guide up when the film tension rises at the end of an autothread. With larger reels it's slid out of the way and you have to use the black switch in the same area.

it's good to have a projector again, I just need to get some films and all the side equipment you need again. I had a 1.1 Elmo lens on my last 1200HD and am kicking myself for not keeping it. the 1.3 looks bad after you get used to the nicer lens.
