Does anyone know from which titles the KEN Rascals releases were culled from? They all have bogus titles that KEN assigned to them (ie: "Fishy Tales", etc.).

Hi Brad, I don't have the answer for that but btw, aren't they all from Ken silent?

(ps: for that reason I don't buy any Little Rascals from Ken)

Brad,

 -

The Haunted House is from "Hide and Shriek"
The Horrible Tooth is from "The Awful Tooth"

Spooky Hooky, Canned Fishing and Fishy Tales are also the names of the original Rascals shorts. I'm not sure about The Chain Gang.

Winbert,

Yes, they are silent with subtitles, but still fun!

Doug

I think there's room for just one more film.....

Thank you so much for the scan, Doug! I don't have a KEN catalog that lists the titles they issued. Yes, Winbert, they are all silent. On "Haunted House" the subtitles are the all caps type that appear in a big black box that obliterates the bottom of the picture ( I hate this type - Columbia used the same style on their silent titles and it's terrible). The text usually in no way matches up to what is being said (artistic license, I presume). Good thing I have the sound versions from CABIN FEVER from about 10 years ago. It's just I'm one of those collectors that can't just have an incomplete library - I'll collect the silent, the sound, the 50', the 200', the 400' and the 3X400' versions. Sometimes I'll even buy european versions (in english only) of digests simply because I know the scene selection will often differ. I don't do this randomly - I pretty much stick to certain genres and performers (ie: Our Gang, L&H, A&C, Universal Monsters, etc.), but once I get hooked on something I can sometimes be rather o.c.d. about making certain a collection is complete. The wife thinks its a little cuckoo. Luckily I'm patient and methodical about how I apply the finances to satisfy my compulsion.

Unfortunately the family and I are not able to attend this weekend, but we do intend to make it to Wildwood one of these days. Winbert, I would collect the Walton titles, but it's rare that they are up for sale in the condition that I wouyld be happy with. One of these days I'll get my hands on "Stooges Go West" from Walton. I know it wasn't one of their best, but I've never seen it and I've yet to see it on DVD.
