Forgive me the slightly off topic question as this in regards to a slide projector bulb, DEK to be exact.
I bought a bulb for my Kodak Carousel 800 (recent garage sale find) and after bidding noticed the sellers "man-handling" of the bulb. I seem to recall it was a no-no to touch bulbs as the oil from your fingers combined with the heat of the bulb could cause it to fail. Any truth to that and if so, can I clean the bulb before installing?

Thomas,
In general, you don't want to touch the bulb's sides or (if this is the type) the reflector. If you do, wipe the bulb a bit with a cloth with a drop of alcohol on it.
Bulbs can be held comfortably with a bit of chamois cloth for removal/install purposes.
