Hi-

Having watched my super 8 print of the Abyss many times, I noticed that in the scene where the white rat is exposed to liquid oxigen, you can only see the actor's reaction to the rat being held in the liquid, when it begins to breath the liquid into its lungs.

I blamed it on cropping, as we do loose a little from the top and bottom of the frame when dealing with super 8 scope format.

But...
after watching an interesting documentary about the making of The Abyss, its stated that Brithish censors cut the scene, due to animal cruelty fears. Then, I watched the scene on the American release (via YouTube), and realized that the scene on the Derann super 8 print is different than the U.S. cut altogether!

Too bad, its a neat scene. But I still love my super 8 print of "The Abyss", and wont watch it any other way! [Wink]

James.

Derann's print of "Terminator 2" also has a few cuts by the British censors. That made it a bit difficult to re-record the soundtrack!

Many of the first DVD´s sold in Spain came form foreign "master tapes" and they have that problem. In T2, the Bar scene of the Hog with the cigar in Arnies breast was cut. The problem was that nobody told the people about it before buying. I began to ask about it after that. I have no bought a lot of tricky DVD´s as THX1138, full of stupid CGI´s and with no option to see original cinema release.

Derann's PSYCHO also has similar problems.

It's not a problem here in the UK as it's the original theatrical release. That's the same for T2 and The Abyss and both re-record without any issues.

On the other hand ..

The print of RoboCop from Derann sports a few EXTRA scenes that were cut from the USA release ... in order to avoid an X rating.

One of which is when Ed-209 kills the suit in the office during the demo. In the X rated version he 'overkills' the suit ... with extreme predjudice.

I thought the bullets would never stop.
