There are a lot of film transfer machines now using frame by frame scan.

I found:

MovieStuff

 -

Tobin

 -

Flashscan8 (MWA)

 -

FilmFabriek

 -

and some other that I don't know, plus those home made machine by the enthusiasts.

Every time each machine giving the sample it is always taken from home movies which give a lot of shaking, soft focus, scratch, dirts, fades, etc. So I cannot judge which one is the best.

In a schmalfilm magazine, Juergen Lossau has once contested the labs in processing the same stock, so we can find which one is giving the best.

Now, has Juergen or other made a contest for the transfer machine? I would really hope there is a such contest so we know which one is the best. But surely the machine has to transfer the same film shoot processed by the the same lab (fresh/brand new). Plus the film must be taken professionally so we can justify the focus and the color balance.

What do you think?
