Hello all,

I have been enjoying the super 8 scene for the past few months but have recently hit a snag.

When does one know if it's time to change the belt(s) on the projector?

My B&H Filmosonic is still running, however every now and again I have to re-slide the speed lever to 24 during the show. The film tends to slow a bit (sometimes) until I do this.

Also noticed lately that although the picture is fine, the sound is a little warbly. I have used the restore loop dial to no avail and have tightened the loop at the top of the projector which usually helps. I also cleaned the sound head a rubber wheel.

Some reels have a tendency to be a bit chattery as well- it doesn't interfere with the picture, it's just kind of loud.

How hard is it to change the belts on one of these and should I do it at all?

Thanks as usual,
Chad

Chad,

I'm not familiar with that projector, but none of the issues you describe sound like a belt problem.

You may have to lubricate some of you films -- or adjust the claw alignment. This can be difficult to do, and varies from projector to projector. You may need to ease the tension on the take-up reel. Not sure how to do that on your model.
