I got this film from a seller in Germany. It is a Piccolo release of Castle Films in the USA.

It looks OK from outside, but when I projected this film, only half of picture shown while the other half come from the other frame of its below.

I then compared it with other films and it is true that the sprockets are placed right beside the frame border while other films is in the middle of frame.

I have tried with 2 projectors hoping that frame adjustment can fix this but although I turn the adjuster knob to max, it is still obvious like the above pictures.

The other problem is that the sprockets are seen during the projection, but I think this is not from the actual sprockets but more from the master. So when they duped the film, lab also took the sprockets of the master.

Have you ever found this problem? and why this kind of mistake is still circulated. They should destroy it instantly.

cheers,

Many years ago I bought the Castle one reel version of 'The Wolfman'. That had exactly the same problem. I returned it to the shop to complain, where the manager was quite patronizing and wouldn't believe me until he ran the print himself. Although I had a refund, I never bought another film there because of his initial attitude.

This was mis-printed at the lab and had they caught it I'm sure it would have been tossed. It must have weaved out of the printer head and this is how negatives get damaged by some reckless operator.

I had one recently...a new print of Symphony Hour from Derann, bought through Steve Osborne....which , toward the end , had the picture shift left so that there was white screen for about one sixth of the picture on the right side. Returned it and got a nice new perfect one.

I bought a print years ago went head to head on a print on ebay paid hundreds once the film arrived i briefly checked it out but did not watch all looked good, it was a month or more later i watched it only to see what your seeing by that time there was nothing i could do with it other than resell it. lesson learned watch films once you get them.
