Well, where to start?
The Classic Home Cinema Sale open days have now taken place and the two special days which Phil puts on each year are very much worth attending. We set off to Cleethorpes in glorious sunshine and it held up all weekend even seeing us walking up and down the golden sands of Cleethorpes beach at 7am as we eagerly awaited going back to Classics shop.

Arriving on day one just a little late for opening time we soon heard there had been a line of collectors waiting to enter as soon as the shop opened. Obviously news had escaped that Classic had secured no less than four large collections for the sale weekend which was excellent news for everyone, especially those who had travelled a long way which many did. As everyone arrived Phil gave a personal welcome to each and everyone which was really nice and he then explained how he had laid out the huge boxes of new stock for the sale which was a great help. Just about all film gauges were on offer even including 9.5mm which pleased my friend no end who had travelled with us hoping to see some vintage film available of which he promptly purchased quite a number. Prices were discounted on the sale days and before long I dived into the first box of goodies instantly locating four 8mm Collectors Club sound films I had been hunting for so very long which I don’t think I stopped talking about all day Friday. Working our way through the many boxes throughout the shop we eventually made our way upstairs to the 16mm, picking up some lovely cartoons and some shorts. The 16mm room was a bit overwhelming with such a massive choice of features and speciality subjects which brings me nicely onto the projectors. If you were looking for an Elmo sound projector this was certainly the day to buy and they had some excellent offers on them just for the sale weekend. Later in the day we were reminded all were invited to Classics legendary evening meal and we quickly accepted the offer enjoying both the excellent meal and the company of like minded collectors.

Day two dawned and this would be our last chance to purchase before the trip home. A good number of Derann shorts were on offer as well and we were quick to buy as the condition was excellent with virtually zero fade or lines complete in original boxes as well. My friend had been looking for a nice anamorphic lens for his 35mm cinema projector and amazingly Classic had just the one for him so he left oh so happy nursing it in his arms. In store also were 35mm sound projectors one of which sold quickly, pedestal Fumeo 16mm machines and all sorts of interesting cine items. Of particular interest to me was a number of colour Betty Boop cartoons which were quick to sell with me only managing to grab one blast it!

We were all sorry to leave Classic Home Cinema with Phil, his dear lady wife and staff making us feel so welcome, plus the 28 degrees of Cleethorpes sunshine Saturday morning. It was an exciting Sale and the choice was massive all thanks to the efforts of Phil and his team which we thank so much for making it so much fun for everyone. The welcome at the shop was great as were the films and equipment on offer to everyone, so thank you again for a memorable event in the film collecting calendar. We shall return!

I second Lee; came all the way from Brum-more than 3hrs in trains!-
& had the chance to brouse through Phil's boxes for a good hour & a half-got some nice treasures then was treated with sandwiches & drinks back to Phil's who also kindly gave me a lift to the station! Bad point, train was delayed due to a failure on the line so stuck in station for an hour-& had to cope with the downpour that followed...but all in all a great film day! And there will be more films coming soon! So a very decent-albeit a bit tiresome-alternative to DERANN's open days which I used to attend & now missing, many thanks to Phil & Denise! [Smile]

Wasn’t it great Yanis and if may be so bold to say that Classic Home Cinemas coffee was far superior to the Derann open day coffee [Eek!] Seriously though hats off to Phil for such a fun weekend and a pleasure to purchase from them.

Could some of you post any pictures of the event? I find interesting all the pics and videos I found about Derann, CHC, and other seller, fans and conventions. Maybe because I live in other country and don´t have such film hobby events. I am thinking about going to the BFCC.
