Had a look inside my GS1200 and I need to regrease it, in particular the pinch roller gears that are controlled by the worm gear are very, very noisy. I'm going to go and pick up (hopefully) the correct grease for it. Am I looking at Lithium grease, or should I choose something else?

Thanks guys.

I don't know if Super Lube is available in the UK, but when I was having lube trouble I used it and it worked really well.

Super Lube

It was recommended to me by Richard Patchett, who uses it in his 16mm repair business.

From what I am seeing it is some kind of suspension of PTFE particles in a gel.

You and I can call 'em "Teflon" particles, but the Super Lube folks better not unless they'd like having DuPont's lawyers pounding on their door!

I to usually use Super Lube, however I also use CRC Sta-Lube Lithium Grease. I'm not sure if available in UK...but you can check it out. I have seen it on Amazon.

We have recently made an investigation, together with lubricant experts, what the best lubricant is for general use in 8mm and 16mm filmprojectors. Based on that we advice to use the modern lubricant Molycote G-4500 grease. You can buy it in 400ml tubes and spray.

But because for most film-owners that is a too large package, it is now also available in affordable (and shippable via a normal letter) in 10 gram syringe package)

I don't know what we would do without all the spares from Edwin.

Particularly useful for nylon cam and claw follower mechanisms!

There are other Dow Corning variants that work equally as well in my experience, but the one Edwin recommends above works perfectly also and is specifically manufactured for fast moving nylon bearings and rollers etc in industry.
Covers a very wide temperature range also.

The Dow Corning MolyKote range are an excellent set of silicone
professional lubricants.
