This all takes me back many (many) years to remind me of a seller from New York on US eBay who had a GS1200 which was a "Buy It Now" sale. The projector was, surprisingly, advertised as for use on European mains, was still in its original box, and was a "prize item."
Being a bit green (then) as to the world of eBay and its sellers I bought it. I should have been well aware of forthcoming problems when the seller wanted to be paid by Bank Transfer to an account in the island of Jersey, in the Channel Islands (between the UK and France.) Bells should have rung but they didn't.
For a while the emails flowed from the seller, all flowery and "my buddy", but the weeks went by and no projector arrived, the emails also dried up. I sent an email asking when I might receive it. The answer was that he thought I had received it weeks earlier as he had not heard from me.
The seller said it must have been lost in transit and he would contact his insurance company "to sorts things out".
That was the last I heard from him. eBay were no help saying the time was over the period of complaint, and furthermore as I didn't use PayPal they could do nothing for me.
A sad tale, and a loss of a lot of money for me. It's now all lost in the annals of time and I have no way of knowing who the "seller" was, but this current sale certainly rings a bell.
