Well the heading pretty much says it all. From what I have read elsewhere, this was supposedly shot in scope as well as flat, as an early scope demonstration reel, but comparing it to the flat version, it's pretty clear that they simply came in on the flat 35MM print and made a scope release of it.

Fox did an 'in-house' test of this but the film was released in academy. I don't think I have ever seen the scope material and I have just had a quick look on YouTube and no luck there. I didn't know of a super 8 release but that would be nice.

From IMDB:

The "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" number was later re-shot in CinemaScope, to be used as part of a CinemaScope demonstration held on the Fox lot in March of 1953. Producer Darryl F. Zanuck told "Daily Variety" that it only took 3-1/2 hours to shoot the number in CinemaScope versus four days for the original film version. The public finally saw the CinemaScope version ten years later when it closed Fox's documentary tribute to Marilyn Monroe: Marilyn (1963),

No, I didn't mean to suggest there was. I think Osi may be thinking of the extracts Derann did from SOME LIKE IT HOT. Perhaps.

I'm sure a Super 8 print of this was shown at one BFCC as part of a scope film show. I know I saw it.

I do in fact have it, it's a 200ft release, approximately 5 or so minutes long, including some of the dance number preceeding it and then the song. The reel ends with the song ending during the "The End" credits from the original feature documentary ...

... and it was in fact taken from that Marilyn Documentary from 1963, but I would swear to it that it isn't "true cinemascope"
If it was in fact shot specifically in cinemascope, I honestly don't think that THAT specific footage has ever been seen yet, documentary or not.

By the way, it was printed on L.P.P. film stock, but the original source material/negative has a slight fade, which doesn't help, as the number is largely a pink/red hue to the color.
