Hi everyone,

I have come across some Rex Films on Super 8 that have held their color well! From what I see it is a German company. Examples include: Die Satansbande (I Drink your blood) and Das Schreckenskabinett des Scharlachroten Henkers (Bloody pit of horror/Scarlet the executioner)

I wanted to ask if others have owned, or come across Rex film releases and what their experiences have been. Would anyone know where I could find a list of their releases? Or would anyone know what other films they have released?

Thanks!

I picked up "I drink your blood," and have been impressed by its ability to maintain color! The image looks a bit contrasty, but from what I understand it is the way most of their films were produced. Plus, I like it that way for the type of film that it is.

It is the first film I plan on re-syncing/recording into English and have found it interesting the way they chose to cut the digest. The movie starts by flowing through straight for the first half of the film (or so), and then it starts to jump back and forth! This reveals to us the reason why everything happened near the very end, and not towards the middle as it does in the full feature. Definitely an interesting way to watch it!

I will try to post some screen shots and a review when I finish the sync =D

I have the 400' version of I DRINK YOUR BLOOD. The color is good but not great. However, I suspect that is how it looked upon original release and not due to fade.

The 200' foot and 400' releases of this title contain completely different footage. That is why the digests jump around so much. From what I've heard, they are framed differently, so do not intercut well.

I have been looking for the 200' version for some time now with no luck. It is near the top of my want list. If someone wants to sell me theirs, feel free to shoot me a pie-in-the-sky offer.

Marshall, I agree that the colors are not the best, but my copy does not look like it has any fading either. From what I could tell there is a shorter release like you mentioned and also a version of I drink your blood. It looks like super8warehouse sold them together to one lucky buyer. I guess Germany would be the best place to look for these films
