Hey Winbert ...

Do you happen to know if any other company apart from MGM super 8, also released the Tom and Jerry short "Cat Nap" on super 8?

It's always been a favorite of mine, (I personally like it better than most of the Academy Award winners) ...

... as, most prints that I have seen of this have the dreaded eastman fade. Hopefully a Walton Agfa print?

My copy has warming colors as well that's what I wrote in my notes back in '05 it may have changed or stayed the same, I would have to watch it.

Hi Osi, my copy of 'Cat Napping'is in a Derann box so I think it must be one of their re-releases as I bought it new from them a several years ago,its on acetate, and on the leader states Maritz labs and the date 8-29-77 but the colours look fine on my print, Tom.s hammock is nice and blue in colour

Further to my last comment Osi,Re.. 'Cat Napping' Walton films
had listed in their 1979 catalogue, catalogue No. TJ19 so looks like they had released it to..
A know that it's thought that Walton slightly edited their
Tom & Jerry releases yet in the same Walton catalogue on the first page they state that their feature releases are abridged
but documentary films, old time comedies and CARTOONS are not,
make of that what you will ?!!

Good to hear that both Walton and Derann solad prints, although I wonder if that dating on the "Cat Napping" (yes, you're right Winbert .,.. 1951), means that it was either taken from a 1977 negative, or the actual print was made in 1977 in which case, it might be subject to fade in the future. It's well known that Derann would sell prints that they bought wholesale from other companies/distributors, that aren't necessarily on low fade stock.

I notice on my "Cat Napping", when ho,ld up to the light, from the original leader to the fade in of the MGM title card, it's apparant that the actual original cartoon negative that they used, was not up to thier usual standards, as it didn't have perfect blacks to begin with. (note: I'm speaking of the MGM release, and not Derann or Walton prints of this title.

The walton print of "Cat Napping' must be fairly rare, as i have not seen one come up on ebay.

FYI Derann's catalogue number for this was C1199. In the "Little Mermaid" cover catalogue they had 67 T&J cartoons.
