Hi, I recently bought this super 8mm sound film called "The Wind In The Wires" The history of aviation from 1909 to the fighter aircraft of World War 1 , narrated by James Mason , 430ft 22 mins running time. From 1976 from what I did manage to find on Google. Someone suggested to me that it'd possibly a rare release? Does anyone know much about this? Cheers :-)

I believe Davelyn films was an early name for what became DCR, I'll check if the title appears in adverts after the change. Maybe they meant it was rare to find one with the Davelyn Films label

It is an interesting film.
-a reminder that before there was aeronautical engineering and computer simulations and wind tunnels, the science of aviation grew by trial and error...often fatal error.
We couldn't do it that way any more.
The film itself is actually pretty modern (1972), but maybe it contains rare footage?

I'll have to bring my Std 8 silent AVIATION ODDITIES, which goes back to the Wright Bros, and before - DCR was a fine outfit, they released several of the RKO shorts I'm after - - Thought you were only of a mind towards railroad shorts, now will have to bring more of my aviation collection - Shorty

I've got a copy. I wouldn't say it's rare. Dave had a very responsive lot of customers for his releases which were always of a high quality.
