I think if they say "stereo", it means that the machine has two speakers inside the chassis and a two channel power amplifier(Elmo GS-1200, GS-800 for example.)
-not that a pair of speakers a foot apart really does stereo anyway, but then again these machines usually have two external speaker sockets and you can get your real stereo that way.
"Twin track" means it can read the full stereo signal(s), but what you do with it after that is up to you. As a standalone it probably can blend them into the single speaker, which is still very good for those stereo prints that just don't work right on a monaural machine.
I've seen the industry standard pinout for the DIN connector that Eumig uses for line level output, and the single track machine uses the standard chassis ground and one of the channels (the left channel, actually). I'm betting yours also uses that other (right) pin that my instruction manual never mentions.

Hi Barry, I have the Eumig 824D Sonomatic HQS. It is a great projector, and runs both Super 8 and Regular 8 with equal ease.
I had to repair the top plastic sprocket holder on my machine, as it as cracked and the sprocket was slipping on the shaft. So if your machine does not want to thread properly, check it out as it is a very common issue on the little 800 Eumig's- an easy repair, just a dab of epoxy solves the problem.
Make sure you center the dot on the inching knob a the 12 o'clock position, so as to retract the claw before removing the gate plates. Failure to do so will break off the claw. When I got my machine it was very dirty in the film path. A couple of hours doing a meticulous cleaning and polishing of the film path will pay dividends in the smooth threading and running of this machine.
The track switch on the front of the machine is labelled 1,1+2,and 2. It is not a stereo machine

Well, I received the projector today. Came in the original Styrofoam packaging. No power cord and of course, no manual. Good thing the cord socket is the same as the universal PC socket. It was set for regular 8 so I put on the S8 sprockets and plate. Thought I had an auto shredder as it jammed and ate some leader. Found out it was a little white piece that is a part of the film path between the sound head exit and the start of the larger lower sprocket. It is actually a two-piece piece. I thought the outer part had broke, but it is sort of like a little door that you can pop down to have access to the path. Works fine now. Nice zoom lens adequate for home use and although it is very similar to my Bolex SP80 Special, I think the sound is a little better. For the track switch, it has to be on "1" for the sound to work. The other options are "2" and "1+2".
