Thanks for your reply, Janice. The projector insides in the pictures look exactly like mine, except that the tire on mine may be a little smaller. Before going any further, it looks like I made a terminology gaffe (pun intended) in my original post. In rewind, the reel at the rear technically becomes the supply reel and the one at the front (by the lens) the takeup. During projection, the front one is the supply and the rear one is the takeup. Probably most people would think of the one at the front as the supply reel regardless. So how about if we just call them front and rear to avoid confusion?
In any case, as you can see in your pictures, as well as on my machine, during rewind the tire never really makes contact with the black plastic drum attached to the rear spindle. And from what I can tell it's not supposed to. So there seems to be nothing to put any drag on the film as it rewinds. Any thoughts? I have a picture of mine but can't figure out how to upload it. Thanks.
