Dan,

Keep an eye on German eBay ('tanz der vampire') as there have been at least two copies up for sale this past few weeks.

This one didn't sell so may still be available...

http://cgi.ebay .de/TANZ-DER-VAMPIRE-in-Super8-und-CINEMASCOPE-komplett_W0QQitemZ140343865145QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDE_DVDs?hash=item20ad256f39&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

...though you'll no doubt have to re-record in English due to deutscher Ton (German Sound)!

Thanks, Ricky. Is there a difference between the Derann print and the German print. Who is the company in Germany?

Oemer, what is the reversal connection?

Hi Dan,
back in the 70´s to early 90´s the german lab made reversal prints.
This was made on different filmstock (black edge) and this prints made direct from the 35mm positiv and not from a 16mm negative like the normal way.
Reversal prints was used to make only few prints, sometimes only one or 2 prints. This was made over night, because next day must the 35mm print played in the cinema for the audience.
Most prints are made very poor, because it must be done very hurry.

So Oemer..did they use Kodachrome (reversal stock)?

If so, if they did a good job, than, it will not fade.

Isn't it?

cheers,

Hi Winbert,
yes it must be Kodachrome, the color is allways great but they are soft in focus.

Oemer,

I believe it must be expensive to make this copy.

If I am not mistaken, during that days a price for a 50 feet Kodachrome sound was around $15, so says it was $10 for bulk purchase, therefore to have 3600 feet of full feature would cost around $720!! = (3600 feet: 50 feet) x $10.

And that was 1980s money!!

cheers

Dan,

Sorry the 'reversal' bit was lost in translation to me but if I see a Derann copy I'll let you know about it.
