I'm always on the look out for such material - mainly shorts -on 8 and 16mm. The German 'Hits In Colour' series included a song performed by Julie Driscoll, and one by Brian Auger, so I'd be pleased to hear from anyone with a copy to sell of these or possibly others.
The Pink Floyd 'Another Brick in the Wall' release, as offered by Derann is another I'd like, plus the 'Dancing in the Street' Live Aid short (I have one but my copy isn't great).
I'd also be interested in the 400' of the Rolling Stones at Hyde Park. I saw this offered new on a dealer's ad in the 1980s but I've never come across it since. Can anyone confirm that this release actually exists?
I have a very rare US short featuring news-type footage of Alice Cooper, which I believe may have been from a distributor that offered other rock music releases featuring Jimi Hendrix and others - so anything in this line would be of interest.

Adrian...I also love music and I don't have any for sale I just wanted to tell you about some that I have in case you didn't know about them.

'Can't Stand Losing You' video clip from the Police super 8 color/sound. Could use a re-record but nice color and a cool film!

'Stamping Ground' 400' super 8 color/sound. Nice digest from a early 70's festival with a full song from The Birds, Santana, Dr. John and Jefferson Airplane.

I would love to get a hold of some film with Jimi Hendrix or T.Rex [Smile]

That's all I have that's straight 'Music'

Bill - I have 'Can't Stand Losing You' and I don't think we are the only people here with copies that have poor sound. I have a CD with the song, and if I can arrange for a good stereo recording, I'll see if others would like it done at the same time. I used to have that 400' of Stamping Ground but sold it having found a rare 5 x 400' full length copy.

A good pop item currently available is the CHC release featuring the Dave Clark 5. I have an earlier Red Fox print of this, but the CHC one is better. A notable rock release worth looking out for is the Piccolo 2 x 400' of 'The Kids Are Alright'. I had this prior to obtaining the film on 16mm and the print was great, although the sound could have been better.

Years ago I had a list from an american distributor offering lots of Pop/Rock related material. Notably a load of Led Zeppelin titles but nothing from the Stones which is what would have tempted me at the time. I have never seen or heard of any of the titles since but presumably they are out there.
I did manage to pick up "Save Me' from Julie Driscoll and Brian Auger which seems to be a european release on S8 but haven't seen others, maybe our european chums can turn some up.
A number of the scopitone music films were released on std 8mm sound. These were all early 60's late 50's songs, my favourite being "Jack the Ripper" by Screaming Lord Sutch!

Joe - do you recall if the items from the US distributor were mostly on 200' reels? That applies to the Alice Cooper item I have, which probably runs 5-6 mins.

You did well to find 'Save Me'. I have 'Night In White Satin' (Moody Blues) from the same series and it has a list of the other titles on the back. The distributor was German.

I collect Scopitones on 16mm, but I'm pretty sure that the 8mm series that includes Screaming Lord Sutch are all Cinebox titles - certainly 'Jack the Ripper' was. (Cinebox was a similar machine, but unlike Scopitones, the soundtracks were optical, and if you show the original films on a 16mm projector, the image is reversed and the sound is out of sync. I have both the colour and b/w Std 8 versions of 'Jack the Ripper', but the b/w is arguably better due to the amount of fade on the colour versions.

This may be common, I don't know, but I have a Super 8 of the Beatles performing "Revolution," part backing-tracks, part live. A well-known film clip. I bought it for $10 on ebay about a year ago. No clue about the manufacturer.

Adrian... I wore out my LP of the 'The Kids Are Alright' when I was young and that's a great film...I'll have to watch out for that one.

Could you tell me if T.Rex is in the full length version of 'Stamping Ground'? I know they performed at that festival.

...and if anything ever comes of the Police re-record you'll have to give me a heads up on it.

Yes Adrian from memory they seemed to be 200's.I don't remember much info re tracks Being something of a squirrel I may have the list somewhere but haven't seen it for years.

BTW Julie Driscoll is delectable in Save Me, I could have bought a Brian Auger solo track at the time but didn't, fool that I am.

I have quite a few bits and pieces in 16mm but my guess is that most of those were produced for promotional reasons rather than as package releases so finding other copies will be hit and miss.

Just came across a small pile of std 8mm sound films-all approx 50's from a series put out by Heritage called Musical Miniatures. The boxes are red and yellow with cartoons of Frankie Vaughn and Acker Bilk. The ones I have are
Vince Hill "Twisting the night away"
Frankie Vaughn "Everybody loves my baby"
Lionel and Joyce Blair "Must be Madison"
Lance Percival "Come a little closer"
and for me the cream of the crop The Hollies with "Little Lover"

I also have Patsy Ann Noble doing "He who rides a tiger" from the film of the same name which may be from another distributor as it is in a different style box.

Plus I have found 200' from a pop TV show with Millie, Long John Baldry and the Beatles, no idea who released it or when.

I have some 16mm rock stuff but nothing on 8mm..I have a 4 song sampler of Alice Cooper live in Dallas from the Billion Dollar Babies tour, basically it is like a 20 minute excerpt of live footage from the Good to see you again movie, also a punk movie called Blitzkrieg Bop on 16mm, and then some MOS Stones footage from 72 I think...
