Jean-Christophe,

WHAT NO PRICE LISTED... OUTRAGOUS CALL THE FILM PRICING POLICE! lol [Big Grin]

Who cares, at the end of the day if collectors are that interested and want a film then email the seller, I know that is exactly what I would do... if not move along! [Roll Eyes]

It makes me laugh that with the stocks of available Super 8mm Feature Film titles dwindling true collectors aren't biting sellers hands off for them like they should be rather than bitching as in some posts. These days collectors seem to want titles for next to nothing but are loosing sight of the fact that film collecting has always been a rich mans hobby! [Eek!]

Good luck with the sale Jean-Christophe, a great classic Universal horror movie and if I didn't already have it in my collection I'd have emailed you right away as Luis has, no question about it! [Cool]

Best,
Rick [Smile]

Try buying a copy of TITANIC and tell me again you don't need to be a rich man!!

You'll need to be a rich man if you wish to enter the collecting 'top league', no mistake!

I'll certainly agree with Ricky when it comes to 16mm if you want nice original prints of classic titles.

I don't know enough about 8mm to agree or disagree, but I certainly would not pay "rich man" prices for anything on 8mm film.

hi!guys,in my opinion as a collector, there,s nothing such rare
films, only some are more easy to find than others, for a collector all films we want are (rare)and i must say there,s alot,a expeculation about prices, some fellas selling the same film more expensive than the regular oficial dealers, the quality
of some films not deserve the price who are asking for,for ex.
some of my top films ,they cost me a very fair price,i don,t
mencioned whom i bought them for a question of respect
some fellas buy for make business late,i don,t have nothing
agaist, people can asking the prices they wont, but the final
word it,s from the buyer...

long live super 8,i never let it die

Michael,

I guess that all depends on how much a collector wants to add 'that' title to their collection and I'll bet that goes for all keen collectors of anything.

Sorry for interrupting your thread Jean-Christophe good luck with the sale and back to topic...

Best,
Rick

It is a very new for me that film collecting is valued based on how much money you spend....super mega LOL [Big Grin]

Film collecting is a hobby like other hobbies that is valued on how you love the items and persistence in collecting...not about money.

Some people can only collect B/W and silent...like Dino
Some people only collect all MGM clam-shell ...like Mike Pecham
Some people only collect cartoon....like myself
Some people only collect this and that....

You don't need to buy TITANIC to enter the higher league...mega LOL my friend...! [Big Grin]

Listen to this dialog:
  • - Mama I would like you to buy me that high heel shoes
  • - You don't need to have it darling, you are short and fat
  • - But I want to be seen like that beautiful lady
  • - You are now already beautiful without need to wear that, be yourself, darling!!
[Wink]
cheers, and JC good luck for your sale

Wilbert,

You're analogies escape me! I don't believe that if money was no object you would rather buy a 'selected scenes' reel instead of the directors complete work, that's like buying just the signature off of a great artwork instead of the complete painting! [Roll Eyes]

Let's be good enough to leave JC's post alone and if you wish to enter a debate then start your own thread. [Wink]

Ricky...woow.... there are plenty of threads here explaining why members prefer collecting digest than feature. It is not (entirely) about money problem. What I can remember:

- some members like to see the artwork/original box, knowing most feautres do not come with artwork box
- some members do not have time to see features again and again, e.g. Ben Hur, The Fall of Roman Empire, etc
- some member thinks digest runs better than feature
- some members do not have enough space to store reels of reels.
- etc...etc

If yo understand this, rather than making an offer to JC's film, why you SHOUTING with hilarious comment:

[Eek!]

Finally, this will be my end of statement, and if you want to continue... please open a new thread Ricky.

- some members have limited funds and consequently accept to settle for less!

Hourses for courses I guess.
