Bought one off eBay, stating it was run once or twice. Was almost no color whatsoever on it and had lines too (wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't for the absence of color)

So now my hunt for a decent print is on ... Anyone know of a good one?

Thanks

That was not much better than the one I got :-)

I remember owning this in the late 70's and it was much better. Does this mean all prints of The Birds has gone or was it printed on different stocks too?

Yes I remember in the 70's everything looked new and with bright colors no fade.I guess Vidar they were printed on Universal eastmen stock? At least mine has no lines. [Big Grin] Any body else got the 400 digest on low fade stock you can show pics?

My eyesight isn't good enough to read anything on the film, so what mine is on, I really don't know.

I posted a picture of it in What Films I saw last night. Extremely poor in my opinion, but the seller was awesome, he refunded the whole movie. Was happy enough with the Psycho I got from him.

Any way that is why I buy black and white films these days like Psycho' It is a hit or miss with stock unless stated then you get those lines and green scratches they don't tell you about.

My copy does also suffer from the same fade.

I think this is a matter of the master being used had been faded at the first place.

Well..I bought my print brand new when the film was first released......the color was washed out even then on mine. Not red....but just like you turned the color setting on a tv to very little. So at least on my print..the color wasn't good to begin with.

I have the 400'er also and I have not screened mine for some time but I believe it also has very little color and no lines. I will pull it out and screen it and post back.
